WASHINGTON D.C. – SPARTA, the nation’s leading transgender military service organization, is proud to announce the addition of Dany Hanna, DO, a gender affirming surgeon who assumes the role of Medical Advisor.

In 2005, Dr. Hanna enlisted in the Army National Guard. After attending OSUT basic training at Fort Benning, GA, he served as an enlisted infantryman with 1-181st Infantry. He was then commissioned as an officer and trained at the US Army Military Intelligence Center of Excellence at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. He went on to serve as a tactical intelligence officer with D Company, 223rd Military Intelligence Company and later served as the Battalion Surgeon for 1-181st Infantry in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
Dr Hanna attended medical school at the University of New England, where he served as class president and graduate in the top of his class. After completing an internship in general surgery and residency in urology, Dr Hanna traveled to Europe for training on advanced reconstructive techniques with Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic, a leader in urogenital reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hanna was later hand-selected to complete a year-long Gender Affirming Surgical fellowship in the Philadelphia area.
Dr Hanna exclusively operates on transgender and non-binary patients at the Hanna Gender Center in Dallas, TX. He specializes in performing bottom surgery (vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, metoidioplasty, urethral lengthening), top surgery, breast augmentation, and tracheal reduction.
While performing research on the difficulty of obtaining transgender medical care, transgender surgery in the military, Dr Hanna found SPARTA.
